***Completely In Canal Hearing Aid Accessories

The C.I.C. (stands for: completely-in-the-canal) designation for a custom built hearing aid refers to the size of the hearing aid only. This size is the ultimate in miniaturization and is the one that's the closest to being 'invisible' when worn. Users of C.I.C. hearing aids have less problems with telephone usage (less feedback) and wind noise due to the fact the aid is nestled way down in the ear. The natural shape of a person's outer ear also helps 'funnel' sounds down to the faceplate/microphone of a C.I.C. aid.

There are many different types of circuits, or electronics, that can be installed in a C.I.C. hearing instrument ranging from a basic analog circuit all the way up to the latest, fanciest digital circuitry from almost any of the major manufacturers.....we carry them all. We are very experienced and well versed in all the latest developments within the hearing aid industry.

A C.I.C. aid is made to the exact size and shape of a person's ear. This aid is the smallest sized hearing aid any manufacturers produce. C.I.C. aids are generally appropriate for hearing losses ranging from mild to moderate (although we can obtain one special, very high-powered circuit C.I.C. from one specific manufacturer for severe losses). The power and frequency specifics of the circuit that gets installed in a person's C.I.C. hearing aid will be matched to their individual hearing loss. That's why you don't see any output specifications associated with these aids......they are individually made and vary greatly.

Most C.I.C. hearing aids do not come fitted with a volume control. However, there can be exceptions and it is possible to have a special volume control mechanism built into a C.I.C. at an added cost. Being custom fitted to the user's ear, the C.I.C. requires a very good, long impression of the user's ear canal. We have provided many C.I.C.'s to our customers by mail. These hearing aids use the size #10 batteries (very rarely the smaller #5's).

Special Instructions for Custom In-The-Ear Instrument Orders:
When your order is received, we will send you impression kits (at no charge). You can easily make an impression, or cast of your ear...tens of thousands of our customers have done this over the years. Or if you have an older instrument that fits well, we can use that for the impression. Either of these is necessary for a custom-fitted hearing aid. Also, provide us with a copy of an audiogram (hearing test) if you have one. It will be very helpful, but is not necessary.
